Bone morphogenetic protein 1/tolloid-like protein
Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) is found in demineralised bone matrix and can induce ectopic bone formation []. They are members of the TBF-beta superfamily. Sulphate polysaccharides bind BMP's and can enhance osteoblast differentiation. Tolloid-like protein processes procollagen C-propeptides, such as chordin and is required for the embryonic development, influencing dorsal-ventral patterning and skeletogenesis [].
