Excinuclease ABC (ATP-binding cassette-type) complex is involved in DNA replication, recombination and repair. This is important since lesions encountered by DNA polymerase at the replication fork create a blockage []. This group defines the C subunit (the DNA repair enzyme UvrC) an ABC excinuclease subunit which interacts with the UvrA/UvrB complex to excise UV-damaged nucleotide segments. The UvrB protein enhances specificity to a preincision complex []. The C subunit is found only in the bacteria and archaea.
Excinuclease ABC, C subunit
