B6.Cg-Tg(Camk2a-Fyn)1Kndl/Rbrc. Transgenic mice overexpressing native Fyn under the control of the calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha promoter. The transgenic Fyn is more expressed at high levels in the neurons of the adult forebrain than the neonatal one. The transgenic mice exhibit no obvious epileptic behavior, but the kindling of these mice is accelerated by once-daily stimulation of the amygdala. This strain is useful for elucidation of the role of Fyn tyrosine kinase in synaptic plasticity.
