Kcnj11 (Kir6.2) 遺伝子のノックアウトマウス。この遺伝子の欠損は膵beta細胞におけるインスリン分泌や神経細胞におけるグルコース感受性に異常をきたす。ホモマウスは膵beta細胞におけるインスリン分泌が障害されるが、末梢組織でのインスリン感受性が亢進しているため軽度の耐糖能低下にとどまる。ホモマウスは生存性には問題ないものの、仔育てがやや不良。ES由来Tyr遺伝子近傍にあるため、ホモマウスはチンチラ色となる。

Developed by Dr. Takashi Miki and Susumu Seino, Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine in 1998. E14 ES cells were used. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6J over 5 generations.
Kcnj11 gene knockout mice. An exon of Kcnj11 gene was disrupted by neomycin resistance gene insertion. Homozygous mutant mice are viable and fertile, but show a somewhat low reproductive performance (nurturing) compared to wild-type.
