The Nucleotide database contains nucleotide sequences, STS (sequence tag site sequences), Whole Genome Shotgun (WGS) sequences, but not EST or GSS sequences. The Nucleotide and Protein databases also include NCBI-curated Reference Sequences (refSeqs). Click on this link for more information about the RefSeq project. Patent sequences are incorporated through arrangements with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and via the collaborating international databases from other international patent offices. The Nucleotide database contains all the sequence data from GenBank, EMBL, and DDBJ, the members of the International Nucleotide Sequence Databases Collaboration (INSDC).
