<p>Members of this entry are uncharacterised proteins sporadically distributed in bacteria and archaea, about 470 amino acids in length. Several members of this family appear in public databases with annotation as ATP-dependent protease La, despite the lack of similarity to families <db_xref db="INTERPRO" dbkey="IPR004815"/> (ATP-dependent protease La) or <db_xref db="INTERPRO" dbkey="IPR003111"/> (ATP-dependent protease La (LON) domain). The proteins in this entry are encoded by genes repeatedly found downstream of another gene that encodes an uncharacterised protein of about 880 amino acids in length (see <db_xref db="INTERPRO" dbkey="IPR014060"/>).</p>
