InterPro Protein Domain record

description
 •
DNA primase [] synthesizes the RNA primers for the Okazaki fragments in lagging strand DNA synthesis. DNA primase is a heterodimer of large (p60) and small (p50) subunits in eukaryotes. This family represents sequences of the small subunit and the DNA primase sequences of the Archaea []. No sequence similarity can be detected between the eukaryotic p50 and p60 subunits and the primases purified from bacteriophage and bacteria, <db_xref db="INTERPRO" dbkey="IPR006295"/>.

This entry represents the archaeal proteins.
