<p>This entry describes 2-deoxy-D-gluconate 3-dehydrogenase (also called 2-keto-3-deoxygluconate oxidoreductase), a member of the family of short-chain-alcohol dehydrogenases (<db_xref db="INTERPRO" dbkey="IPR002198"/>). This protein has been characterised in <taxon tax_id="556">Erwinia chrysanthemi</taxon> as an enzyme of pectin degradation [<cite idref="PUB00014561"/>].</p>
