Pentafunctional AroM protein

InterPro Protein Domain record

description
 •
Each member of this group contains five functional domains catalysing five sequential steps of the shikimate pathway. Each domain corresponds to a monofunctional prokaryotic enzyme of the same pathway: 3-dehydroquinate synthase (<db_xref db="INTERPRO" dbkey="IPR016303"/>), 3-dehydroquinate dehydratase (<db_xref db="PIRSF" dbkey="PIRSF001397"/>), shikimate 5-dehydrogenase (<db_xref db="PIRSF" dbkey="PIRSF000100"/>), shikimate kinase (<db_xref db="PIRSF" dbkey="PIRSF000702"/>), and 3-phosphoshikimate 1-carboxyvinyltransferase (<db_xref db="PIRSF" dbkey="PIRSF000505"/>). The multifunctional gene is regulated in response to amino acid limitation by coordinate regulation, which provides an economical means of simultaneously synthesizing five shikimate pathway enzymes.

For additional information please see [, ].
